Forgive Yourself So You Can Move Forward

Happy Monday,

I hope all is well!  We get to experience a new week & it's a blessing to be alive and well.  This week we're going to focus on forgiveness.  We hear how important it is to forgive others but what about forgiving ourselves.

Forgiving myself has been one of the hardest things I've had to do.  I know I'm not alone so I decided to be transparent today.  I'm very open about being a divorced mom of 3.  For the longest time I would blame myself for not choosing the "perfect" husband or the "perfect" father for my children.  The guilt of my choices would cause me to be depressed and get stuck in the shoulda, coulda, woulda thoughts.  I could not forgive myself for what I've been through and what my children went through because of my choices.  I chose to be accountable for my choice and not blame anyone else.  Being accountable is a good thing but when I chose to be accountable I also carried guilt.

One day I realized I had to stop carrying the weight of my past decisions and let it go.  So every day I decide to forgive myself and give all those feelings of failure to God.  I still find myself having to readjust my thoughts and focusing on the blessing of today instead of the past.  Sis, I want to let you know we can't go back and change anything.  The only thing we can do is learn from our past so we won't make the same choices over and over again.  Each day we have a choice to make about how we can make our today better.

There are no perfect people and that includes each of us.  I had unrealistic expectations for myself and the man I chose to marry and father my children.  We will all make the wrong choice at times and make mistakes.  We will all fall down. Some of us choose to stay down while others fight to get up.  I encourage you to choose to be a fighter no matter what.  Standing back up after you fall down is courageous and brave.  Just like I had to do, it's time to forgive yourself.  Forgive yourself so you can move forward.  Be grateful for the lesson you learned and choose to not make the same past decision again.

This week our assignment is to ask ourselves what are we holding on to and blaming ourselves for.  It can be 1 thing or 20 things but it's time to forgive yourself and let it go.  You can look at yourself in the mirror and forgive yourself for whatever it is.  You can write a letter to yourself and forgive yourself.  Choose today not to carry that weight around any longer.

Also, I'm a woman who believes in the power of prayer.  I have a group on Facebook just for ladies where we are encouraging each other to grow in the Lord daily.  To join us click here   If you would like me to stand in agreement with you in prayer reply back to this email...PRAYER WORKS!! We'll be praying every Monday morning at 6:30am EST. Conference Line : 605-313-5417, Access Code 786750

If you are reading this letter and you have not given your life to the Lord, I encourage you to make a choice today.  The best decision I could have made was to make Jesus Lord of my life.  If you declare with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead you will be saved.  It is a simple but powerful moment that will change your entire life and the lives of your children (if you have any).

Say this prayer out loud:  Heavenly Father, I come to you in the name of Jesus.  I ask for forgiveness of my sins.  I want Jesus to come into my heart and change my entire life and become my Savior and bestfriend.  I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that Jesus is Lord, He died on the cross for my sins, and that You raised him from the dead.  I am also asking you to fill me with the Holy Spirit.  Holy Spirit rise up within me as I praise God. I fully expect to speak with other tongues as You give me the utterance.  In Jesus' Name Amen.

Please let me know if you said that prayer.  Pray for God to lead you to a bible believing church and start reading the book of John to learn more about Jesus as well as grow in the Lord.  Welcome to the family Sis !!

Choose to forgive yourself today & have a great week!!
